Welcome to Dupin Central. This is a page that renders homage to the American writer Edgar Allan Poe's greatest detective character: C. Auguste Dupin, of the Faubourg St-Germain in Paris. Who is Dupin you may ask? He is the world's first unofficial consulting detective and became the archetype for Sherlock Holmes. He preceded Holmes by forty-six years. Dupin was even mentioned in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's first Sherlock Holmes Story A Study in Scarlet (1887). Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) created some of the first detective stories with Dupin:
