When I'm Ready
When I'm ready, I'll know (I'll know)
When I'm ready, I'll go (I will go)
It may not be the right thing to do
I've stowed away, (stowed away)
And I'll stay (I will stay)
Aboard this ship of fools
You can deceive me (deceive me)
Never believe me (believe me)
But just don't leave (don't leave me)
But don't leave (don't you leave me)
But don't leave
Don't leave me now
When I'm ready, I'll say (I'll say)
When I'm ready, I'll pay (I will pay)
For everything I've done wrong
You'll change your mind (change your mind)
And you'll find (you will find)
There's an answer to everything
You can deceive me (deceive me)
Never believe me (believe me)
But just don't leave (don't leave me)
But don't leave (don't you leave me)
But don't leave
Don't leave me now
My ship went away (it went away)
And I'm not on it (I'm not on it)
I wanted it to stay (to stay)
And I'm not very happy, and I'm not very happy
And I'm not very happy, anymore
You can deceive me (deceive me)
Never believe me (believe me)
But just don't leave (don't leave me)
But don't leave (don't you leave me)
But don't leave
Don't leave me now
Words and music by Peter Forrest
Year Written: March 1983 (Sarnia, Ontario CANADA)
Date Recorded: 1985 (EMAC Studios, London, Ontario CANADA)
Musicians: Peter Forrest (guitar and vocals), John McGrath
(bass), Trent Rogers (drums and backup vocals)
Song Notes: This under produced pop song was an attempt at
dual singing that needed more work on vocals, timing, and
tuning. It was still a favourite among many of our Vee
Gates friends. "The ship" verse is very nice. This song
was part of the first Vee Gates 3-song demo called "The Game is
Afoot."
