Valley of Fear
Ooh…………
Whatever I said today, I thought it'd made you go away
But I, but I didn't know that you had followed me here, oh dear
The things I meant to say, I can't say them anyway
But I didn't know that you had followed me here
Oh dear, oh dear
I've got to let you know to tell you all I know
But I, I live in the valley of fear
The battles I fought today those wounds won't go away
But I, but I didn't know that you had followed me here, oh dear
The sins I did today, the price was much too high to pay
But I didn't know that you had followed me here
Oh dear, oh dear
I've got to let you know to tell you all I know
But I, I live in the valley of fear
[surf guitar solo]
I've got to let you know to tell you all I know
But I, I live in the valley of fear, oh
I live in the valley of fear, oh
I live in the valley of fear, oh
I abide in the valley of fear
Words and music by Peter Forrest
Year Written: March 1985 (London, Ontario CANADA)
Date Recorded: 1986 (4-track, Montreal, Québec
CANADA)
Musicians: Peter Forrest (guitar and vocals), John McGrath
(bass), François Dubeau (drums)
Song Notes: This song was one of the singer's favourites and
it starts out with the ghostly "oohs."
The title was based on a Sherlock Holmes novel. The song has an
interesting surf guitar solo. The "oh dear" reference in the
song is to the Sex Pistols. Orignally, Pete didn't think this
song was any good until he played it to John Cash and he said it
was "great!" It's great to have a song in the key of
C#minor. This song was part of the first Vee
Gates Montreal demo.
Basic Guitar Chords:
Opening: C#m, F#m, G#7, C#m
Verses: C#m, F#m, G#7, C#m, G#7, C#m
Chorus: F#m, C#m, F#m, C#m, G#7, C#m
