My Music

YE OLDE TRIP TO NOTTINGHAM

RAISE  A TOAST TO THIS GHOST

FEBRUARY 2010:  My latest song on the ukulele is a song for the woman who died "ghost-hunting" at the U of T (University of Toronto) back in October 2009.   She was said to be under the influence of spirits.

DIE VOGELHOCHZEIT

OCTOBER 2009:  My latest song on the ukulele is a shortened version of the German folk song  Vogelhochzeit (The Bird's Wedding).  Every German knows this song but it has never made its way into Anglo-Saxon music.

Enjoy my mad performance!

AUGUST 2009:  I'm working on my ukulele CD (in French) called Ukulele ā Lille.  I've written 10 songs about my travels in Northern France back in July 2008.   I've recorded a number of the songs in the studio (Little Bullhorn - Dave Draves) in the early summer of 2009 and will finish off the project in late October 2009.

I've been seeking out some new ukuleles to diversify the sound.

Here is a recent video of me playing and singing 'Trois petites chansons" on the ukulele in French (May 2009).

SOLO VOCAL & GUITAR SONGS:

  • Mystery in Our Lives  (3 megs MP3 - recorded March 28, 2004) - I composed this song in Montreal in May 2002 after moving to the city from Ottawa and living with two roommates: Veronica Charnley and Alex Richardson.   I mainly wrote this song for Alex who at the young age of 21, seemed very cynical about life despite his bizarre collection of old LPs and an apartment full of dusty trinkets that no curio shop could ever equal.  Song has minimal instrumentation.

  • Wreck Beach  (3.5 megs MP3 - recorded July 4, 2004) - I composed this song in Montreal in 1987 after having a bunch of friends from Vancouver show up at my miniscule Montreal downtown apartment.  I'd never been to BC and they kept mentioning "Wreck Beach" which I thought had such a cool name so I wrote a song about it after they left. Of course,  it's a nudist beach for those out there that don't know.  This is a slow song, and almost comical.   I finally recorded it 17 years later!  And I still haven't been to BC yet!!!

MIDI STUFF:

MIDI and Audio Recording Stuff

Most of my MIDI sounds are generated from the Soundblaster Audigy Platinum soundcard.  I like to use MIDI a lot and create audio recordings from midifiles scored in Finale 2006.  I then import them into Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.03 and add more effects and vocals, and sometimes real instruments.  Here's some links to MIDI and audio.
